Lakers find success against NIACC

The Iowa Lakes Women's Soccer team faced NIACC today in Mason City, IA.

After a slow start in the game and conceiving a goal, the lakers bounced right back to end the game with a 4-1 win.

Early in the game, after a missed call from the referee for an offsides foul, the Trojans found the back of the net to secure a lead. The Lakers soon found their rhythm and answered back 9 minutes later with a goal from Maddy Duncan. The goal was assisted by Tessa Calabria and was beautifully dribbled by Maddy with speed, placed right past the keeper.

Going into the second half, the Lakers weren't finished yet. Another goal from Maddy in the 49th minute secured the lead. Celeste Diaz found Maddy for a through ball and with Maddy's incredible speed, she beat 2 defenders to goal.

3 minutes later, Tessa found the net for the third goal. From a beautiful pass by Sienna Scully, Tessa found the net with a superb strike to the top left corner.

Maddy would add another goal to complete for a hat trick in the 83rd minute. With a pass from Tessa, Maddy again used her speed to push past the Trojans defensive line and find the back of the net.

Keeper Adelle Brown remained strong and recorded 10 saves to complete the game.

Fresi Thoo, Celeste, Joanna Medina, and Jordyn Howell each recorded 1 shot. Ana Lima and Kylie Wellard recorded 4 shots all on frame. Sienna would add 3 shots. Maddy recorded 4 shots and 3 goals and Tessa recorded 5 shots and 1 goal.

"Offensively it was our best game of the year. We looked dangerous all game and moved the ball really well. I'm really happy with the team performance, Coach Viedenkamp said.

The Lakers will next be on the road to face Iowa Western and Otero in Council Bluffs on September 15th and 16th.
