Iowa Lakes earn their 1st conference victory against Dakota County

Today's match up in Spencer against Dakota County proved that the Lakers were determined to win. With an ending score of 10-4, the Lakers dominated the Knights.

The lakers came out strong scoring 6 goals early in the first half. All 6 were scored within 15 minutes of play. Celeste Diaz would put the lakers on the board with a beautiful pass from Sienna Scully just 6:56 minutes into the game. Celeste and Sienna would connect again as Celeste capatilized another goal in the 9th minute of play.

Tessa Calabria earned 3 assists and 4 goals in the match, with 3 of her goals in the first half and 1 in the second half. Tessa's first goal was assisted by Maddy Duncan who slots a ball to Tessa, which she places into the net perfectly. Tessa's second goal was assisted by Celeste, and her third goal was assisted by freshman Joanna Medina. Joanna played a beautiful through ball to Tessa where she would touch around the defender and score. Tessa's last goal was assisted by Mayra Piedrahita.

In the 12th minute, sophomore Kylie Wellard would also put the lakers on the board with an assist from Celeste.

Maddy Duncan earned a pair of goals, 1 in the 13th minute and her last in the 85th minute. Both of Maddy's goals were assisted by Tessa.

Freshman Mayra Piedrahita would score her first goal of the season and earn an assist in the match. Her goal was assisted by Tessa, Mayra was in the right spot at the right time as she capitalized off of Tessa's rebound shot. 

The lakers recorded 16 shots in the first half with 8 shots on goal and 14 shots in the second half with 6 shots on goal. 

Keeper Adelle Brown recorded 9 shots in the match.

 

The next match for the Lakers is on September 30 at 4 PM as they are on the road to play Scott Community College.
