Lakers Secure A 2-1 Win Over Northeast Nebraska

The women took on Northeast Eagles today in Norfolk, NE and came out with a 2-1 win.

In the previous match-up against the Eagles, the Lakers loss due to low numbers and injuries but they proved today that they were ready to play and compete.

Sophomore Madeleine Duncan tallied both goals for the Lakers. In the first half the Lakers dominated by possessing around the Eagles and combined passes to find Maddy's feet where she placed it perfectly into the side of the goal. Sienna Scully provided the assist to Maddy's first goal. The score remained 1-0 for the rest of the half.

Tessa Calabria provided 4 shots in the first half with 2 on frame. Celeste Diaz provided 1 shot on frame in the first half and Adelle Brown recorded 8 saves of the half.

In the second half the Eagles capitalized on their chance and beat the Lakers defense to place the ball over keeper Adelle's hands 10 min. into the second half. The Lakers answered back with another goal to secure the win 9 min. later. Maddy again would be the one to place the Lakers on top. After receiving the ball from the midfield, Maddy dribbled with her speed through the Eagles entire defense and beat the keeper to score the last goal of the game.

Shots in the 2nd half came from Celeste who provided 2 on frame, Tessa with 4 shots and 2 on frame. Ana Lima provided 1 shot, and Sienna had 2 shots with 1 being on frame. Keeper Adelle recorded 11 saves to help her Lakers secure the win.

"This was one of the better games of the season for us. We were great in defending and transitioning to attack. We looked dangerous all throughout the first half. We needed this momentum heading into the weekend against a tough Indian Hills team," said head coach Viedenkamp.

The Lakers take on Indian Hills on Saturday October 7 at home at 5:00 PM for a conference match up.
