The Lakers opened their season in a great way, by taking a 2-0 win against Southwestern Illinois College. The lakers showed great determination and grit in today's win against the Blue Storm. The Lakers offense was led by freshman Amelia Kimble. Kimble had 4 shots on goal, 2 of which found the back of the net. For the defensive side, freshman goalie, Willow Stewart, led the defense with 4 saves for the Lakers. The Lakers moved the ball well as a team and played together. Coach Cain said "This is a team that is already showing a willingness to work for each other. I couldn't be more proud of these girls and the contribution they made today." 

The Lakers start the season with a 1-0 record, facing their second game of the season, Sunday, August 25 with a 10:00 am kickoff at St. Louis Community College.
