The Lakers played against Western Iowa Tech last night and came out victorious. The Lakers set the tone early with a goal in the minutes of the 1st half. Freshman Roniellia Bubb set the tone of the game for the Lakers with the early goal, assisted by sophomore Rania Nurr-Mecca. On her first touch of the game, freshman Stina Mathews added a goal to make it 2-0. The Comets were able to keep the Lakers quiet for the rest of the first half. The second half started out as quickly for the Lakers as the first with freshman Amelia Kimble scoring at the 44:57 mark in the second half, making it 3-0. Kimble's goal sparked the Laker's attack in the second half being the first of six goals in the half. Kimble wouldn't stop there, as she added 2 more goals to the board, one being assisted by freshman, Balaghni Ines. Scoring off a Comet yellow card at 28:10 mark was sophomore Cayley Winters, making the game 6-0. Soon following Winter's goal, was sophomore Rania Nurr-Mecca netting 2 goals for the Lakers, ending the scoring for the Lakers, and the final score of 8-0. Freshman Ana Zamorano added and assist of her own, as did freshman Stina Mathews. Leading the Lakers scoring was freshman Amelia Kimble with 3 goals. The Lakers will be back on the pitch Friday September 20th, against D1 Indian Hills.
