Women Swimmers compete at Rochester Invite

The Laker women competed at the Rochester Invite this past weekend. 

They started with the 800 freestyle relay where they placed 17th against a stacked field of D1, D2, and D3 teams. The 500 freestlye was next with Gabriela Reis placing 39th and Shayna Asuncion taking 46th. The 400 medley relay was the last event on friday night and the team of Monique Dias, Brenda Neves, Asuncion, and Reis took 23rd. Saturday finals started with the 200 medley relay and the team of Dias, Neves, Asuncion, and Reis took 26th. Neves lead off the individual events with a tie for 51st in the 50 free. The 200 fly was next with Dias taking 18th only a few tenths of the school record that was set last year at Nationals, teammate Asuncion took 23rd. The 200 freestlye saw Neves take 36th and Reis took 47th.  Dias and Reis took on the mile on Sunday and took 19th and 27th, respectively. Dias swam the 200 IM taking 23rd and continues to close in on the school record, while Ascuncion not far behind took 43rd. Neves took 30th in the 100 freestlye once again dropping time. The 200 breaststroke saw Neves take 14th only a few seconds of the school record, Reis taking 32nd, and Dias taking 33rd. The final individual event for the women was the 100 fly where Asuncion took 40th. The women closed out the meet with the 400 freestyle relay where they took 29th. 

 

The Lakers will be back in action against Iowa Central Jan 6th at home meet starts at 2pm.
