Laker Women Swim Strong at Rochester Invite

Although the Laker Women didn't place high in the team standings, they did swim well throughout the weekend.  Liz Crewe-Brown had season best swims in the 400 IM (5:24.98), 100 Back (1:02.41), and 200 Back (2:17.63). Liz's Backstroke times place her top 10 for the season in the NJCAA. Juliana Villa Rodriguez had season bests in the 100 IM (1:06.06), and 200 Back (2:18.30). Mavi Valentin had a season best in the 200 Back (2:29.19) and Maggie Jackson had lifetime bests in the 50 (30.71) and 100 Free (1:10.91).

The four women combined for their fastest 400 Medley and 400 and 800 Freestyle relays of the season.

Coach Peters was impressed with the performances this weekend. "It was this weekend because Maggie had to leave Saturday for a Choir performance and both Juliana and Mavi are struggling with injuries. The women were able to pull together strong swims despite their struggles. Liz had great backstroke races and I appreciate her effort in the 400 IM. I believe we will be able to pll everything together when we need to at the National Meet."

The Laker Swimmers will break until January 3 when they begin training for the NJCAA National meet in March. The first meet of the Spring semester will be on Jan. 11 at Luther College. The meet will also include Loras College.
