Iowa Central rolled into Estherville with a 17-1 record, undefeated in the ICCAC, and ranked #11 in the country. The Lakers were sitting at 4-17 and 1-3 in the ICCAC. On paper it looked like the ultimate mismatch. The Lakers refused to go down easy but fell [0-3]. The Titans came away tested but prevailed 25-20, 25-11 & 27-25.

Coach Turnbull, although disappointed in the final tally couldn't help but be proud of the Laker effort. "Anybody who has been following us wouldn't have predicted this a few weeks ago. I feel for our players, they worked hard tonight to position themselves for success. We were serving at 25-25 in that last set. Iowa Central is the top team in the conference and we went point for point with them most of the night. Our serve receive was sharp and we had limited ball handling errors. That kept us in it. I really like the direction we are headed now, we just have to keep building on it," commented Coach Turnbull.
