Standout libero Faith Marroquin has signed to play volleyball with national qualifier South Western Assembly of God University! She will finish the 2020 school year with the Lions in Waxahachie, Texas. While playing volleyball at Iowa Lakes Faith recorded over 1100 digs and was named to the Region XI all region team both seasons. In her time as a Laker Faith was a two year starter and also served as a two year captain for the blue and gold.

Faith reflected on her two seasons at Iowa Lakes, "My freshman year coach Hunter taught me so much about my game and how to improve it. I was able to showcase that improvement with Coach T during my sophomore season. The combination of that helped me to get to the next level. I am thankful for all the coaches, teachers, and staff at ILCC who provided the insightful and humbling experience."

During her freshman season at Iowa Lakes, Faith earned her starting libero role and never gave up the jersey. She led the Laker defense recording 501 digs and also led the program in the serve and pass game: racking up 28 aces and an impressive .993 passing rate. Her performance also earned her Honorable Mention All ICCAC.

During her second year at ILCC Faith also served as the Laker Libero. She topped her freshman year stats by stealing 605 digs from opposing hitters: she appeared in three less matches than the previous season. Her statistical improvements also added her to the All ICCAC honorable mention roster for the second time.

Iowa Lakes Volleyball coach Mike Turnbull said, "SAGU is blessed to have Faith coming into their program.  She was outstanding for us.  All-Conference & Region and made the Region All-Academic Team.  She excelled at Iowa Lakes on and off the court.  I know she will make Laker Nation proud as she transitions to the next level. It was all my pleasure to coach her this past season."

Marroquin will complete the academic year at her new school in Waxahachie, Texas. Faith's thoughts on her signing, 'I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to attend SAGU. I chose to become a Lion because I wanted to be a part of a competitive volleyball program and also be at a university where I could prioritize my faith. SAGU has both. I'm very excited to continue my degree path in elementary education and to add a minor in Christian Ministry."

SAGU head volleyball coach Hank Moore had this to say about the new addition to his roster, "Faith Marroquin will bring to our program a true difference maker.  She is a high-energy player with a very high volleyball IQ.  We are so excited that she will be joining the SAGU Volleyball Family…"

Faith also emphasized, "Thank you so much to all my former coaches, my amazing family, and incredible friends for their endless support and guidance. Go Lions."
