The Iowa Lakes volleyball program is proud to announce that sophomore right side hitter Evonne Tomlin has accepted an athletic scholarship to continue her academic and athletic career to attend and play volleyball at William Penn University in Oskaloosa, IA. Evonne came to Iowa Lakes from Midlothian, TX in the fall of 2018 and will graduate this spring.

Evonne, who will major in Sports Administration at WPU, had this to say when asked about her recent signing. "I would like to thank Iowa Lakes for maturing me into the young woman and student-athlete I am today. During my freshman year, I had the opportunity to learn from Coach Hunter Porter and become a more competitive player. As I entered my sophomore year, our new coach, Coach Turnbull, reminded me how much I loved the game and has helped me on and off the floor. I would like to thank the staff, the teachers and everyone at Iowa Lakes for impacting my life in a positive manner. I also want to thank my parents, friends and family for supporting my dreams, pushing me to be my best me and always having my back. Thanks also to Katie Larson and Rachel Shumaker for showing me how to work hard as an athlete and how to become an amazing teammate on and off the floor."

"I couldn't be more thankful to have the opportunity to continue my education and athletic career at William Penn. I chose WPU because of the opportunities it will provide me to be successful on and off the court. Coach Cleaver and Coach Miller were honest with me and showed me the vision of where they want their program to go and I wanted to be a part of it. I can't wait to be a Statesmen!"

Coach Turnbull had this to say about Evonne. "I am proud that we are sending another Laker forward on her academic and athletic journey. I know that William Penn is getting a quality person and she will make Laker Nation proud! I also want to thank Evonne for helping me feel welcome and appreciated in my first season coaching at Iowa Lakes."
