With all hopes of returning to some sense of normalcy in the near future, the Iowa Lakes CC Volleyball team is excited to announce their presumed competitive schedule for this upcoming fall season.

 

The pre-season will be highlighted by two scrimmages. The Lakers will travel to NIACC on August 14th to scrimmage with other conference opponents. They will host a home scrimmage on Wednesday August 19th with MN West CTC & Briar Cliff University.

 

The Lakers will open the regular season with a tournament at Central Community College in Columbus, NE on August 21 & 22. The ICCAC season will begin on Wednesday September 2, when the Iowa Lakes travels to Northeast CC in Norfolk, NE. The home opener will be on Wednesday September 16, when the Lakers host ICCAC opponent, Southeastern CC.

 

Special event nights will be scheduled on four of the home dates: Wednesday September 16 "Beach Night" Fans are encouraged to have some fun & wear beach attire. Wednesday September 30 "Christmas in September" Fans are encouraged to wear ugly Christmas sweaters and or Christmas hats. We are also hoping that fans can donate hats, gloves, toys, books, etc… that can be donated to a local children's charity. Wednesday October 7 "Pink Out" Cancer Awareness Night; Fans are encouraged to wear pink attire. Wednesday October 21 "Staff Appreciation Night" Laker volleyball players & coaches will honor Iowa Lakes Staff Wednesday October 28 "Sophomore Recognition Night" Sophomore players will be honored.

 

During the 2020 season the Lakers will host five ICCAC matches and will also be at home on Saturday October 17th when they host the Captain Jack Quad Match. Southwestern CC, Southeast CC & Bethany Lutheran College JV will travel to Estherville for that match.

 

Besides ICCAC matches the Laker travel schedule will be busy. They will play in Tournaments in Columbus NE, Highland KS, Marshalltown IA, Rochester MN, Wahpeton ND and Mason City, IA. The Lakers will also play in Tri-Matches in Inver Grove Heights MN, Arden Hills MN and Coon Rapids, MN. They will also travel to St. Peter, MN and play the Gustavus University JV.

 

Coach Turnbull is definitely excited about the upcoming season. "We feel we have put an outstanding and challenging schedule together. We are continuing to recruit for 2020. Right now we have three returners and seven freshmen committed to play. We hope to add two to three more hitters before we come back to campus in August. I can only hope that our players are working out and staying healthy as we all navigate these trying times. No matter what lies ahead it will be a fun and exciting season and we all look forward to getting things rolling in August."
