Lakers fall to #4 Kirkwood Eagles

The Lakers Traveled to Cedar Rapids for an ICCAC matchup against powerhouse #4 Kirkwood. The Eagles jumped on the gun early and never really looked back in set 1. They held dominant control throughout. The second set started out tighter but the Eagles got into a groove and kept on rolling. The third set was a lot more competitve with the Lakers showing promise for a potential set upset. Overall the Lakers fell 0-3 (9-25,12-25,20-25). "Kirkwood's set Kaci Johnson came out with some extremely aggressive serves to rattle off over 5 points for her team and get them in the groove in the first and we just couldn't get it going. The second started out very strong but Kirkwood's offense started to flow and we struggled to find an answer. In the third we got more aggressive from the serving line, scrappier in the back court and found spots to score offensively. We knew going in this was going to be an extremely strong opponent, but I am disappointed that we did not bring our best stuff to see how we stack up against them. We will look to right some wrongs and come out firing in Friday's tri-match in Creston," Said Coach Erdman.
