The Lakers played host to NAIA JV Dakota State University who was 11-1 up to this point. The first set the Lakers jumped out and took command keeping control and winning 25-19. In the second the Lakers also came out hot but the Trojans came back and had a few nice runs to find a way to win 22-25. In the third similar story with some tough fit at the end for a Trojan 25-27 win. Followed by the Lakers winning set 4 25-20. The last set the Trojans jumped out early and the Lakers made a few costly mistakes that cost them the match win and gave the Trojans the 15-10 victory. If you tally the points in the match the Lakers would have one by 1 point but that's the tricky part about volleyball it's about stringing those points together in three sets to win the match. This will definitely be one the Lakers look back on and know they should have had a victory. "So many of the executables that we have been focusing on went really well. Offensively we were pretty efficient especially early, super scrappy on defense with a good presence from our block. Really happy with the fight in this match. We still need to clean up silly mistakes deep into matches but that is an expectation for our match Wednesday in Creston," said Coach Erdman. Lot of really strong performances for the team. Lily Kunselman was one kill shy of a double double, Morgan Wigg had double digit kills and 5 blocks and hit .241, five Lakers tallied 10 digs or more, Jordan Grimes had a double double with assists and digs.
Stat Leaders:Kills: Morgan Wigg 14 hitting .241, Kenzie Lee 10 hitting .205, Lily Kunselman 9 hitting .104, Kajsa Bates and Hailey Shequen each added 8 hitting .129 and .114 respectively; Assists: Jordan Grimes 24; Aces: Lorin Turkdogan and MaKenzie Uribe each had 3, Lily Kunselman 2; Digs: Lorin Turkdogan 33, Lily Kunselman 23, MaKenzie Uribe 21, Jordan Grimes 14, and Maria Fernanda Sanchez 10; Blocks: Morgan Wigg 5 and Jordan Grimes 5 a piece, Hailey Shequen 4 and Kenzie Lee 2
