ICCAC sweep at home for Lakers against RedTails

The Lakers had a big ICCAC conference matchup, against Hawkeye Community College. Both sitting around that 8th position in conference and both fighting to find a way into the Region XI tournament. The Red Tails came out early and capitolized on some early mistakes from the Lakers causing two very early timeouts from Coach Erdman. The Lakers then came to life and clawed back even and eventually over the Red Tails in the first 27-25. This set showed a lot of fight and gave the Lakers a great deal of confidence. As the second set rolled around the Lakers jumped out early and held the Red Tails back 25-17 with a super efficient set. The third was more Laker confidence and execution for a score of 25-19. This is the Lakers second straight home sweep win. "We have been talking about executing on our side of the net, knowing our scout and stopping their best stuff. We came out a little sloppy and needed two very early timeouts to settle in and get in rhythm. From that point on the girls really battled, they leaned into each other and scrapped for every point, with lots of girls contributing to the come back. The second set was the most efficient set our ladies have showed all year, both on our side of the net but also on shutting down what Hawkeye wanted to do. We knew they would also be hungry for this match and a really solid team battling through the adversity of some injuries. I was very happy to see our girls capitolize and then carry that momentum to the third for a big ICCAC victory. This puts us one step closer to our goal to be playing in November," Said Coach Erdman. "Looking at some metric goals of ours, we were above the hitting percentage, kills per set, assist per set, blocks per set that we shoot for and barely missed digs per set, aces per set, first ball percentage and passing rating. We know that when we get close to most and hit those metrics we should be in a good place on the scoreboard as well," said Coach Erdman.
