Laker Women Compete at the Largest Women's Wrestling Tournament in the Nation. Koep Gets First Win.

Alex Koep highlighted the performance for the lakers as she earned her first collegiate win via Fall over Morningside University.

The Lakers traveled to Marshall Missouri to compete in the Missouri Valley Open. The "Mo Val" is the largest women's wrestling tournament in the nation with over 460 competitors, including the likes of University of Iowa, McKendree University (IL), and Sacred Heart.

Coach Corey Muniz had this to say about the weekend, "I really like the direction we're heading. These ladies keep giving their all and each time we see more success. It was really cool to see Alex tough one out and get a gritty win, that never gets old. I wanted to highlight the efforts of three other individuals; Savanna Galindo, Isabel Jues, and Leilana Kollasch are right there. Their efforts are really starting to pay dividends. It won't be much longer until they see their first victory as well. Im looking forward to what the end of the year hold for them."

 

The Lakers now turn their focus to November 29th, where they will face Ellsworth.
