Cross Country compete in Viking Invitational

The men and women's cross country team traveled to Grand View University Friday to run in the annual Viking Invitational. The women ran a 5k course that was flat with a few uphill battles. Sophomore Jadin Bezdicek led the way for the women for the third time this season finishing in a time of 26:53.1, which was good enough for 29th place. Sophomore Chelsea Cave participated in her first 5k of the year and finished with a time of 28:59.7, which landed her in 37th place.

Over on the men's side, sophomore Kameron Rohwedder got out quick and was hitting a good pace, but was unable to finish the race due to an injury. Fellow sophomore Kevin Davis has testing with the ROTC tomorrow morning so he used this meet as more of a workout and only ran a few miles of the race to ensure that he was fresh for his testing tomorrow.

"Today wasn't our day. We came out flat and weren't mentally prepared to race. I didn't think we warmed up well and feel like we are content with where we are at as a team and as individuals. There is a certain mental toughness that you have to possess to run these races and I didn't see it today, which is on me. We will evaluate where we are at and see what we all can improve on, starting with me making sure our runners are prepared," commented Coach Bruce.

The cross country teams return to action on Saturday, September 23rd when they travel to Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa
