Iowa Lakes started their third series of the young season this weekend in Council Bluffs, Iowa against the Reivers of Iowa Western Community College. The Lakers would fall in both of their games Saturday with the final score of the first game being 10-0 and the second game being 10-0 as well.

Game 1 saw the Laker bats struggle with the tough Iowa Western pitching staff as the they were only able to get accumulate one hit throughout the game which was a single off the bat of Tavan Shahidi (Ames, Iowa) in the 5th inning. Freshman pitcher, Evan Sankey (Appleton, Wisconsin), battled on the mound for Iowa Lakes in game 1 by going 2 2/3 innings while giving up 5 runs, only 3 earned, on 5 hits.

Game 2 for the Lakers saw improvement from the offense as the Lakers got in the hit column early with a contribution from Mallard Holland (Tampa, Florida) as he would single in the the top half of the first inning with two outs but would not advance any further. Freshman first baseman, Jayden Adrians (Green Bay, Wisconsin) and sophomore center fielder, Chad Hinkle (Rosemount, Minnesota) would put together a threat in the top of the second inning with Lakers being down 1-0. Adrians singled which was then followed by a single from Hinkle to put runners at first and second with only one out in the inning. The Reiver's pitching staff would again stifle the Laker bats as they were unable to get a run across the plate in the second. With Iowa Western scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the third as well as 5 runs in the fourth inning, it would push the lead to 8-0 after four innings of play. Adrians would add another hit with a shot to left center field for double but was unable to come across the plate in the top of the fourth for the Lakers. Iowa Western would add 2 more runs in their half of the fifth to bring the final score to 10-0.
