The Lakers baseball program traveled to Cedar Rapids, Iowa Tuesday to take on #4 Kirkwood Community College in what would be the final two games of the series. With the Lakers looking to continue their momentum on the diamond from Saturday's game 2, Kirkwood would hold Iowa Lakes at bay by taking the final two games of the series by the final scores of 11-1 in game 1 and 13-3 in game 2.

Freshman pitcher Evan Sankey (Appleton, Wisconsin) would get the bal in the game 1 and would pitch well early on against a good Eagles offense. With the Eagles jumping out to a 2-0 lead after the second inning, the Lakers offense would strike back with a run of their own when BJ Johnson (Tallahasse, Florida) would sharply to left field and advance to third base on a Spencer Keane (Palm Springs, California) single to center to put runners at first and third with only one out in the inning. Mallard Holland (Tampa, Florida) would fly-out to deep center field to score a tagging Johnson and cut the Kirkwood lead in half, 2-1 after two and a half innings of play. The Eagles would answer back in the bottom of third inning by scoring 2 runs and increasing the lead to 4-1. The Kirkwood offense would add on 7 more runs in the next two innings while the Laker offense would struggle to put together a threat of their own. Iowa Lakes would fall in game 1 by a score of 11-1. 

Game 2 would start off great for Iowa Lakes as they would get on the scoreboard early in the first inning when Keane would work a 1-out walk which was then followed up by a Tavan Shahidi (Ames, Iowa) RBI double down the right field line to score Keane and give the Lakers a 1-0 lead. Shahidi would advance to third base on a wild pitch and score on a Jayden Adrians (Green Bay, Wisconsin) RBI single to right field. The Eagles would cut the lead in half to 2-1 after the first inning but would be held down by for the first part of the game by a good start by sophomore pitcher Martin Eckard (Victoria, British Columbia). The Lakers offense would add on to their 2-1 lead in the third inning when Keane would take a 1-out walk and be brought home on a RBI double by Shahidi to give them a 3-1 lead after three innings of play. The Lakers would run into some trouble in the fourth inning when Kirkwood would start taking some tough pitches and working walks which lead to a 6-run inning for the Eagles and was capped off by a grand slam. With the deficet being 7-3 for the Lakers, they were unable to find any more magic in the offense as Kirkwood would add on 6 more runs in the fifth to bring the lead to 13-3 which would be the final score after five innings.

Shahidi and Keane would both shine in Tuesday's doubleheader as both would collect multiple hits and score a combined three of the four runs on the day for the Lakers offense.

The Lakers will have their first opportunity to play at home with a doubleheader Thursday against Dakota County Technical College (13-13) provided the weather holds off.
