Iowa Lakes would get their first opportunity to play home on Thursday when they hosted Dakota County Technical College. The Lakers would play well all the way throughout the doubleheader and sweep the Blue Knights by winning game 1 by a final score of 8-3 and game 2, 14-6. 

Game 1 would see sophomore pitcher Dylan Klein (Sleepy Eye, Minnesota) step up on the mound and pitch well early once he was able to find the strike zone. He would would go on to pitch scoreless innings in the first and second innings and set the tone for the rest of the game. The Laker offense would jump on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning with a lead off homerun from Jayden Adrians (Green Bay, Wisconsin) as well as a homerun off the bat of  Spenser Larson (Eden Praire, Minnesota) two batters later to give Iowa Lakes the 2-0. Klein would run into trouble however in the top of third when the Blue Knights would take a 3-2 lead with the help of 2-run homerun. The Lakers would answer back in a big way in the bottom half of the inning with Spencer Keane (Palm Springs, California) getting things started with a 1-out single. Mallard Holland would follow up with walk of his own to put runners at first and second. Tavan Shahidi (Ames, Iowa) would get Iowa Lakes back in front with a 2-run double to right center field and would advance to third on a throwing error. With the Lakers now leading 4-3, Adrians would drive home Shahidi by reaching on an error by the shortstop. Ashtin Moxey (Jacksonville, Florida) would move Adrians up a base by driving a sharp single to right field. Both runners would adance a base on balk call and with runners now on second and third and only 1-out, Larson would drive home Adrians on sacrifice fly to centerfield. The Lakers would add on a few insurance runs in the later innings with a RBI triple from Larson in the fifth and an RBI double by Adrians in the sixth to bring the score to 8-3 which was the final score. 

Game 2 would start off rough for the Lakers as DCTC would score three quick runs in the top of the first inning on four hits. The offense would bounce back in the bottom half of the inning when Keane would work a 1-out walk and be driven home on a Holland 2-run homrun to dead centerfield. With the score being 3-2, the Blue Knights would continue to push runs across homeplate by adding two in the top of the second. The Lakers would ultimately have one of their best offensive innings of the year when they would put up a seven run inning to take control of the momentum and the game. BJ Johnson (Tallahasse, Florida) would start the inning off by reaching on an error by the shortstop and be brought home by a Keane RBI double. Holland would reach base in the next at-bat on error and proceed to steal second base to put runners at second and third. Shahidi would single to drive home Keane and bring the score to 5-5. Shahidi would show great instincts and reach second base on the wild pitch and then was brough home on a 2-run single from Adrians to give the Lakers a 7-5 lead. Chad Hinkle (Rosemount, Minnesota) would join the hit parade with a RBI single himself and would later score along with Dillon Van Oosbree (Emmetsburg, Iowa) to give Iowa Lakes the advantage at 9-5. The Blue knights would get one run back in the top of the fourth but was quickly answered by the Lakers in the bottom half with two runs of their own. Iowa Lakes would again add some insurance in the bottom of the sixth when they would add on three more runs thanks in large part to a 2-run single by Holland. Freshman pitcher Carl Renz (Pewaukee, Wisconsin) would come on to close the door and looked good doing it by recording two of the three outs via stirkeout. 

With Iowa Lakers record improving to 11-19 (2-10), they head back into conference play next week with a matchup against Northeast Community College who is 15-21-1 (4-8). Those games will take place Monday (4/16) and Tuesday (4/17) with a location yet to be determined.
