Lakers Split Weekend Series with Spartans

Iowa Lakes and Southwestern CC played a double header friday in Creston, Iowa where Iowa Lakes would take the first game 10-4. In game one the scoring started when Jimmy Mapakou (Vauréal, Île-de, France) doubled down the left field line to get into scoring position ,and would advance to thrid ona wild pitch. Mark Thornhill (Tallahassee, Florida) would scortch a ball at the shortstop who would boot in and allow Mapakou to score to give the Lakers a 1-0 lead and would tack on two more to make it 3-0. In the 5th inning Thirnhill would blast his first homerun of the year to give Iowa Lakes the 4-2 lead. The following inning the Laker offense would explode for 7 runs. The scoring started when Mapakou would lead off with a HBP and would be followed by an Austen Daliet (New Orleans, Louisiana) walk as well. Ryan Mclean (Shelburne, Ontario) doubled to right center to bring in Mapakou and advance Daliet to third. Thornhill and Jalen Jones (Indianapolis, Indiana) had back to back walk to bribng in another run for Iowa Lakes. Beck Anshutz (des Moines, Iowa) singled throught the 5-6 hole to bring in more runs and as well as Dean Bedell (Treynor, Iowa) double over the left fielders head to clear the bases and make the score 11-2. Southweastern would score 2 runs in the 6th but it woud not be enough as Iowa Lakes would take game one 11-4. 

 

Arturo Gil (San Luis, Arizona) got the start in game one throwing 4 innings allowing 2 runs and Jacob Biffington (Bogart, Georgia) going 2 innings giving up 2 runs and Korey Johnson (Hutchinson, Minnesota) throwing a scoreless inning. 

 

 

In game 2, the lone run of the game came in the 4th inning giving the Spartans the 1-0 and that is all they would need. Winning game two by a score of 1-0.

 

 

Jacob Gilbert (Wasilla, Alaska) kept the Spartna Offense in check allowing one run in 5 innings pitched.  Austin Charboneau (Idaho Falls, Idaho) going 1 inning allowing 0 runs.
