Lakers Baseball Splits Two-Game Series At The U.S. Bank Stadium

Iowa Lakes Community College vs Dakota County Technical College – U.S. Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, MN

Minneapolis, MN — The Iowa Lakes Lakers splits two-game series at U.S. Bank Stadium, home of the Minnesota Vikings, against the Dakota County Technical College Blue Knights on Tuesday evening. 

GAME ONE: (Blue Knights 3, Lakers 2)

The Blue Knights tied the game at two with a single by Seth Goplen (#18) to score one run in the bottom of the 8th inning.

Starting pitcher Jackson Jaekley (Olathe, KS/Olathe South High School) went 2.1 by only allowing 1 hit, 1 run and sitting down 6 hitters in that span.

Iowa Lakes started off strong, scoring in the top of the 2nd- inning, by an RBI double by sophomore Dean Bedell (Mineola, IA/Treynor High School). It wasn't until the bottom of the 4th -inning that the Blue Knights answered back with 4 straight back-to-back singles to score Ben Goelz (#7).

With the Lakers taking the lead again in top of the 5th-inning with a line drive to left field by freshman Mohamed Baoui (Savigny le Temple, FR/Lycee Bellevue), scoring freshman Joan Benavidez (Bayamon, PR/Tomas C Ongay High School) form second base.

It was not until the bottom of the 8th-inning where Seth Goplen (#18), got a base hit single to score Peterson (#28) form third base, giving the Blue Knights the win (3-2)

GAME TWO: (Lakers 4, Blue Knights 1)

The Lakers took the lead late in the 6th-inning, starting with a leadoff single by freshman Akxel Soto (Toa Baja, PR/Christian Nazarene Academy).

Starting pitcher, Dayton Robinson (EwaBeaon, HI/James Campbell), started the game for the Lakers, lasting 5 innings, allowing only 2 hits, 1 run, while striking out 4.

It wasn't until the bottom of the 4th-inning, with the Blue Knights up 1-0, where the Lakers tied things up with a single by sophomore Noah Murphy-Sealy (Aurora, ON/Bill Crothers Secondary School) that scored freshman Joey Winters (Rosemount, MN/Henry Sibley High School).

With the game on the line, in the bottom of the 6th-inning, Blue Knights pitcher Chase Oslin (#8) allowed 3 total runs, starting with a Lakers leadoff single by freshman Akxel Soto (Toa Baja, PR/Christian Nazarene Academy).

The Lakers took the win with freshman Kedrick Edwards (New Orleans, LA/St. Augustine High School) surrendering only one hit over two innings and striking out one.

NEXT UP: Iowa Lakes plays a four-game series against Dodge City Community College on March 6th and 7th, in Dodge City, KS. Saturday games will begin at 1:00pm and 3:00pm. Sunday's game times set for 11:00am and 1:00pm.
