Centerville, IA — Iowa Lakes Lakers drops two to Indian Hills Warriors on Saturday evening.
GAME ONE: (Warriors 2, Lakers 1)
Both the Lakers and Warriors battled on the pitching side, with the Warriors pitching staff, striking out 15, while the Lakers only sat down four.
The Warriors pulled away late in a 2-1 victory against the Lakers. The game was tied at one a piece with the Warriors battling in the bottom of the fifth, when CJ Castillo (#2) hit a sac fly, scoring one for the Warriors.
The Lakers got on the board early in the second inning, with freshman Akxel Soto (Toa Baja, PR/Christian Nazarene Academy) drove in a run. In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Warriors tied things up at one with Noel Perez (#6) hit an RBI single.
Wyatt Wendell (#31) recorded the win for the Warriors. Surrendering only one run on five hits through six innings and striking out four.
Sophomore Logan Ferguson (Idaho Falls, ID/Idaho Falls High School) took the loss for the Lakers, allowing two runs on six hits and striking out four through six innings.
GAME TWO: (Warriors 10, Lakers 3)
The Lakers fell behind early and could not get back in loosing 10-3 to the Warriors. The Warriors scored on a double by Ryoya Telenko (#34), a triple by CJ Castillo (#2), and a single by Pier-Oliver Boucher (#22) in the second inning.
Starting pitcher for the Lakers, sophomore Jacob Gilbert (Wasilla, AK/Wasilla High School) lasted through four and a third innings, allowing three hits and five runs while sitting down six.
Maddux Hoaglund (#16) threw for the Warriors allowing two runs on three hits through six and striking out 10.
Freshman Ben Bach (Bloomington, MN/Bloomington Jefferson High School) led the Lakers going 2-for-5 in hits against the Warriors.
NEXT UP: Iowa Lakes plays another two-game against Indian Hills Community College on March 21st, in Centerville, IA. Game times are set at 12:00pm and 3:00pm.
