Warriors Sweep Lakers In Four-Game Set

Centerville, IA — Warriors sweep Lakers in four-game set on Sunday.

GAME ONE: (Warriors 13, Lakers 1)

The Lakers had trouble keeping up with the Warriors with a 13-1 loss Sunday.

In the seventh inning the Warriors scored seven runs on big hits by Noel Perez (#6), Dave Jenssen (#26), Ricardo Van Grieken (#9) and Samuel Fortier (#19)

For the Lakers, starting pitcher Dayton Robinson (EwaBeaon, HI/James Campbell High School) took the loss, allowing eight hits and six runs through three, and striking out one, while only walking one.

Douglas Rojas (#14) earned the win for the Warriors, only allowing two hits and one run through five innings, striking out seven and walking one.

GAME TWO: (Warriors 15, Lakers 5)

The Lakers fell behind early in the game and could not stop the bleeding with a 15-5 loss to the Warriors.

Joey Winters (Rosemount, MN/Henry Sibley High School) got the Lakers on the board in the first inning, hitting into fielder's choice to score Akxel Soto (Toa Baja, PR/Christian Nazarene Academy).

With the Lakers down, they notched four runs in the top of the seventh. With Beau Sackett (Malcolm, NE/Malcolm High School), Akxel Soto, and Joey Winters all driving in runs.

Cory Knight (Ankeny, IA/Ankeny Centennial High School) took the loss for the Lakers. The righty surrendered seven runs on eight hits over three and two-thirds innings and striking out three.

The Warriors hit two home runs, one in the second and sixth inning. Andrew Beissner (#40) pitched for the Warriors recording only six hits, one run, while striking out seven and walking one, through six innings.

Ben Bach (Bloomington, MN/Bloomington Jefferson High School) and Dean Bedell (Mineola, IA/Treynor High School) lead the Lakers on the offensive side.

 

NEXT UP: Iowa Lakes plays a two-game series at home against Des Moines Community College on March 23rd, in Estherville, IA. Game times are set at 12:00pm and 3:00pm.
