Lakers Take One Form Panthers

Iowa Falls, IA — Lakers take one from Panthers on Saturday evening

GAME ONE: (Lakers 8, Panthers 7)

The Lakers ran off with a lead late in the game with an 8-7 victory over the Panthers on Saturday. The game was tied at 5 with sophomore Austen Daliet (New Orleans, LA/De La Salle High School) doubled to score one.

Despite falling down by five runs in the third, the Panthers fought back.

The Lakers got things moving in the first inning, when sophomore captain Dean Bedell (Mineola, IA/Treynor High School) drove in three with a home run to left field.

Cory Knight (Ankeny, IA/Ankeny Centennial High School) started the game for the Lakers, lasting four and two-thirds innings, allowing six hits and four runs while sitting down five.

Pitcher Cooper Johnson (#13), for the Panthers, took the loss, surrendering five runs through five and a third innings, and striking out seven.

The Lakers totaled 10 hits, being led by Dean Bedell, going 3-3 with two home runs and drawing a walk. The Lakers also did not commit a single error in the field.

GAME TWO: (Panthers 6, Lakers 1)

   The Lakers fell behind early in the game and could not come back in a 6-1 loss against the Panthers.

Panther's pitcher, Gavin Busby (#17) was credited with the victory over the Lakers. Busby surrendered only three hits over six innings and striking out seven.

            TJ Galleberg (Forest Lake, MN/Forest Lake Area High School) took the loss for the Lakers, going through five and surrendering five runs on six hits with six strikeouts.

The Panthers attained a total of nine hits and six runs through nine innings.

NEXT UP: Iowa Lakes finishes the series against Ellsworth Community College on March 28th, in Iowa Falls, IA. Game times are set at 12:00pm and 3:00pm.
