Lakers Lose Home Opener To The Tritons

 

Estherville, IA — Lakers lose home opener to the Tritons

GAME ONE: (Tritons 5, Lakers 2)

The Lakers faced off against the Tritons on Thursday evening.

For the Tritons, Matthew Wilkinson (#12) took the win, surrendering two runs on five hits over seven innings, with collecting nine strikeouts.

Andrew Eskens (Lincoln, NE/Pius X High School) took the loss for the Lakers. Eskens allowed five hits and three runs over four innings, striking out eight.

Joey Winters (Rosemount, MN/Henry Sibley High School) led the Lakers with two hits in three at bats.

Ben DeTaeye (#11) led the Tritons going 2-for-4 at the plate.

GAME TWO: (Tritons 4, Lakers 3)

The Lakers fell behind early and could not come back in a 4-3 loss to the Tritons.

The Lakers lost despite outhitting the Tritons nine to six. The Tritons got on the board when Riley Reed (#29) grounded out, scoring one run.

Brock Johnson (#23) was credited with the victory for the Tritons. Allowing three hits and two runs over three and a third innings and striking out four. Kai Reum (#20) came in relief, going two-thirds of an inning.

Jack Hested (Fairmont, MN/Fairmont High School) took the loss for the Lakers, going six innings, allowing four runs on five hits, and striking out three. The Lakers scattered nine hits and scoring three through nine innings.

NEXT UP: Iowa Lakes face off against Southwestern at home on April 1st, in Estherville, IA. Game times are set at 12:00pm and 3:00pm.
