Lakers Get Swept By Hawks

Norfolk, NE — Lakers get swept by Hawks

GAME ONE: (Hawks 11, Lakers 1)

The Lakers watched as the game slipped away late in a 11-1 loss to the Hawks on Sunday. The Hawks went on-top early in the first inning, with a leadoff home run.

The Hawks got on the board in the first inning when Colin Lynam (#1) hit a solo home run.

In the fifth inning, the Hawks brought in eight runs, to put them up 11-1 in that inning.

Jeremy Schneider (#19) led the Hawks to victory, on the mound. Schneider went five innings, allowing one run on six hits, and striking out seven.

Cory Knight (#12) took the loss for the Lakers, surrendering nine runs on nine hits over four and a third innings, and walking one.

The Hawks launched three homeruns on the day by Lynam in both the first and fifth inning, Tyler Monroe (#5) also hit one in the fifth.

GAME TWO: (Hawks 4, Lakers 3)

The Lakers fell to the Hawks in a nail biter, in a 4-3 final game. Despite the loss the Lakers out-hit the Hawks nine to seven.

The Hawks were the first to get on the board in the first inning when Samuel Manwarren (#8) hit into a fielder's choice, allowing one run to score.

Alex Potter (#6) was credited with the victory for the Hawks. Allowing one hit and no runs over one and one third innings, striking out three. Tanner Olmstead (#20) started the game for the Hawks. Olmstead lasted two innings allowing three hits and no runs while striking out and walking one.  

Joey Winters (#6) took the loss for the Lakers, lasting two-thirds inning, allowing no hits and one run on a throwing error to first.

Dayton Robinson (#17) started the game for the Lakers. Robinson lasted seven and a third innings, allowing seven hits and three runs, while sitting down six.

The Lakers, Holden Boyce (#9) hit a home run in the fourth inning, putting them up 2-1. Ben Bach (#14) led the Lakers offense with four hits in four at bats on the game.

The Lakers loss in the bottom of the ninth on a error at first, scoring one and putting the Hawks on top 4-3.

 

NEXT UP: Iowa Lakes Community College Lakers have a non-conference series at home, Tuesday 20th, against Rochester Community and Technical College Yellow Jackets, in Estherville, IA. Game time is set for 1:00pm and 3:00pm.
