Marshalltown, IA – Lakers take one from Tigers

GAME ONE: (Lakers 14, Tigers 12)

The Lakers nabbed the lead late in the game in a 14-12 victory over Tigers. The game was tied at 12 with the Lakers batting in the top of the seventh when Delvis Claudio (#) drew a walk, scoring one run.

In the first inning, the Lakers built a six-run lead; the Tigers scored 12 runs in the failed comeback.

Dayton Robinson (#17) took the win for the Lakers. The pitcher lasted four innings, allowing six hits and six runs while striking out nine and zero walks. Akxel Soto (#23) and Jacob Gilbert (#11) entered the game out of the pen and helped to close out in relief. Gilbert recorded the last three outs to earn the save for the Lakers.

Riley McKinnon (#30) took the loss for the Tigers. The hurler went one and one-third innings, allowing four runs on two hits, striking out three and walking one.

GAME TWO: (Tigers 29, Lakers 8)

The Tigers ran away with the game against the Lakers, that los in a 29-8 defeat. Tigers trailed 8-7 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Mondre Lagow (#6) tripled, scoring two runs.

Despite losing, the Lakers, collected 11 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, the Tigers had 21 hits on the way to victory.

Sam Tyrpa (#20) was the winning pitcher for the Tigers, going seven innings, allowing 11 hits, and eight runs while sitting down six and walking one.

Cory Knight (#12) took the loss for the Lakers, allowing 10 hits and 11 runs over four innings and striking out three.

NEXT UP: The Lakers finish their series against the Tigers, in Marshalltown, IA on May 2nd. Game times are set for Sunday 12pm/3pm.
