Lakers drop two at Iowa Central

GAME ONE: (Triton 15, Lakers 5)

Iowa Lakes watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 15-5 loss to Iowa Central. The Triton scored on a single by Corbin, a single by Baker, and a single by Becker in the first inning.

The Iowa Lakes struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Iowa Central, giving up 15 runs.

The Lakers notched three runs in the fifth inning. Iowa Lakes offense in the inning came from an error on a ball put in play by Ben Bach and Peter Marquez.

Iowa Central scored four runs in the fifth inning. Iowa Central offense in the inning was led by Morris, Baker, and Becker, all driving in runs in the inning.

Olson was credited with the victory for the Triton. The pitcher surrendered five runs on four hits over six innings, striking out six and walking one.

Briar Rowley took the loss for Iowa Lakes. The pitcher allowed five hits and six runs over two innings, striking out one. Bach led Iowa Lakes with two hits in three at bats.

The Triton collected 15 hits on the day. Becker, Baker, Borst, Johnson, and Corbin all managed multiple hits for Iowa Central.

GAME TWO: (Triton 12, Lakers 1)

Iowa Lakes watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 12-1 loss to the Triton. Iowa Central scored on a groundout by Martinez in the first inning, a triple by Becker in the second inning, a single by Lothert in the second inning, and a fielder's choice by Borst in the second inning.

The Iowa Lakes struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Iowa Central, giving up 12 runs.

The Triton got things started in the first inning when Martinez grounded out, scoring one run.

Iowa Central scored five runs in the third inning. The Triton big inning was driven by walks by Lothert and Borst, singles by Becker and Boyd, and by Holy.

Boeser earned the win for Iowa Central. Boeser surrendered zero runs on two hits over four innings, striking out three. Jefferson, Bradley, and Linkletter all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory.

Arnoldo Saenz took the loss for Iowa Lakes. Saenz allowed three hits and two runs over two innings, striking out three. Sean Gamble started the game for Iowa Lakes. The pitcher surrendered nine runs on seven hits over two innings

Peter Marquez led Iowa Lakes with two hits in four at bats.

The Triton totaled 11 hits in the game.  Becker, Baker, and Corbin all managed multiple hits for Iowa Central.

 

Lakers take on Sourthwestern Community College in Creston, IA for a weekend series April 2nd and 3rd.
