GAME ONE: (Briar Cliff 10, Lakers 8)
Iowa Lakes Community College and Briar Cliff University played a tight game, but Briar Cliff pulled out the 10-8 victory on Monday. Iowa Lakes collected 11 hits and Briar Cliff had 15 in the high-scoring affair.
The Lakers captured the lead in the second inning when one run scored on a stolen base.
Cade Witzke toed the rubber for the Lakers. The pitcher allowed eight hits and six runs over three and a third innings. Keaton Sirek, Brandon Villabrille, and Travis J Galleberg each contributed to relief for Iowa Lakes.
The Lakers socked two home runs on the day. Ben Bach went deep in the eighth inning. Matt Torresan went for the long ball in the ninth inning.
Iowa Lakes saw the ball well today, racking up 11 hits in the game. Akxel Soto and Joan Benavidez, all managed multiple hits for the Lakers. Benavidez and Soto all had two hits to lead Iowa Lakes Community College. Briar Cliff University totaled 15 hits.
The Lakers face off at home against Iowa Central for a two-game series Wednesday, April 6th.
