Blackhawks sweep Lakers on weekend series

GAME ONE: (Blackhawks 16, Lakers 5)

Sunday's game against Southeastern was a heartbreaker for Iowa Lakes, as they lost the lead late in a 16-5 defeat.  The game was tied at four with Southeastern batting in the bottom of the fifth when the Blackhawks doubled, scoring one run.

Lakers struggled to contain the high-powered offense of the Blackhawks, giving up 16 runs.

Iowa Lakes got things started in the second inning. Sean Gamble's sac fly scored one run for the Lakers. Iowa Lakes evened things up at four in the top of the fourth inning with a solo homerun by Ben Bach.

The Blackhawks scored seven runs in the sixth inning.

Kelvin Castro was on the hill for Iowa Lakes. Castro allowed five hits and six runs over four and a third innings, striking out four.  Arnoldo Saenz, Edwin Acevedo, and Christian Gonzalez each contributed to relief for the Lakers.

The Lakers tallied two home runs on the day. Bach went yard in the fourth inning. Rafael Perez had a four bagger in the seventh inning.

Bach went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Iowa Lakes in hits. Southeastern collected ten hits on the day. 

 

Lakers take on the Tritons at home Monday, April 11th, at 1:00 PM CST.
