Hawks pitching shuts down Laker

 

GAME ONE: (Hawks 7, Lakers 2)

Iowa Lakes watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 7-2 loss to Northeast. The Hawks took the lead on a sacrifice fly in the first inning.

Northeast fired up the offense in the first inning, when Fogelstrom's sac fly scored one run for the Hawks.

The Hawks scored four runs in the seventh inning. Northeast scored its runs on a grand slam by Dorrance.

Kellen Cameron took the loss for the Lakers. Cameron went six and a third innings, allowing four runs on four hits and striking out four. Blair Speas and Sean Gamble all had one hit to lead Iowa Lakes.

The Hawks tallied six hits on the day. Dorrance and DeLeon each managed multiple hits for Northeast. Dorrance led the Hawks with three hits in four at bats.

GAME TWO: (Hawks 12, Lakers 0)

Iowa Lakes watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 12-0 loss to the Hawks. Northeast took the lead on a double in the second inning.

The Lakers struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing the Hawks, giving up 12 runs.

In the second inning, Northeast got their offense started. Gill doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

One bright spot for Iowa Lakes was a single by Joey Winters in the second inning.

Christian Gonzalez took the loss for Iowa Lakes. The pitcher lasted six innings, allowing six hits and four runs while striking out six.

Winters led Iowa Lakes with two hits in two at bats. Northeast racked up 12 hits.
