Lakers drop two games to Bears

 

GAME ONE: (Bears 8, Lakers 1)

It was a tough day on Tuesday for Iowa Lakes, who lost 8-1 to Bears. In the first inning, the Bears got their offense started. Thilges grounded out, scoring one run.

In the bottom of the second inning, the Lakers tied things up at one when Caden White doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

The Bears pulled away for good with three runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Holling's sac fly scored one run for Des Moines, Brill singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run, and Stallman singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.

Stewart pitched the Bears to victory. The pitcher surrendered one run on two hits over seven innings, striking out nine and walking one.

Dayton Robinson took the loss for Iowa Lakes. Robinson lasted four innings, allowing seven hits and four runs while striking out two. White and Santiago Gonzalez each collected one hit to lead the Lakers.

GAME TWO: (Bears 9, Lakers 4)

In the bottom of the second inning, the Lakers tied things up at one. Joan Benavidez singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

The Bears pulled away for good with four runs in the fifth inning. In the fifth Luster was struck by a pitch, driving in a run and Thilges was hit by a pitch, driving in a run.

Jack Hested took the loss for Iowa Lakes Community College. The righty lasted four and a third innings, allowing six hits and five runs while striking out three and walking one. The Lakers tallied one home run on the day. Mike Rivera went yard in the ninth inning.

Rivera, Benavidez, Luis Ramos, Ben Bach, and Matt Torresan each managed one hit to lead Iowa Lakes.

 

Lakers take on the Northern Iowa Area Community College in Graner, IA Thursday, April 21st, at 1:00 PM CST.
