Eagles take two-games on Saturday

 

GAME ONE: (Eagles 17, Lakers 5)

Iowa Lakes watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 17-5 loss to Kirkwood Community College on Saturday. Kirkwood took the lead on a home run in the first inning.

The Lakers struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing the Eagles, giving up 17 runs.

Kirkwood opened up scoring in the first inning, when Moseley homered on a 3-2 count, scoring three runs. The Eagles scored 11 runs in the fourth inning.

Matthaidess took the win for the Eagles. The hurler lasted four innings, allowing seven hits and four runs while striking out one.

Kellen Cameron took the loss for the Lakers. Cameron lasted three and a third innings, allowing ten hits and 11 runs while striking out one and walking zero.

Iowa Lakes smacked one home run on the day. Delvis Claudio had a long ball in the second inning.

Peter Marquez led Iowa Lakes with three hits in three at bats. The Lakers were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Marquez made the most plays with five. Kirkwood totaled 12 hits. 

GAME TWO: (Eagles 17, Lakers 7)

Iowa Lakes watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 17-7 loss to Kirkwood. The Eagles scored on a walk by Alex Pendergast, a single by Chase Moseley, and a home run by Noah Furcht in the second inning.

Ben Bach collected four hits. Bach doubled in the first, homered in the third, singled in the fifth, and homered in the sixth.

After Iowa Lakes scored one run in the top of the seventh, Kirkwood answered with one of their own. The Lakers scored when Tyler Hoffman singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run. The Eagles answered when Parker Shupe hit a solo homer.

Kirkwood pulled away for good with six runs in the second inning.  In the second Pendergast drew a walk, scoring one run, Moseley singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs, and Furcht homered on a 3-2 count, scoring three runs.

The Lakers scored three runs in the sixth inning.  The offensive onslaught by Iowa Lakes was led by Matt Torresan and Bach, all driving in runs in the inning.

Caleb Banowetz was credited with the victory for Kirkwood. The bulldog surrendered three runs on five hits over three innings, striking out five and walking one. 

Bryan Mojica took the loss for the Lakers. The righthander allowed five hits and ten runs over three and a third innings, striking out three.

Iowa Lakes launched four home runs on the day. Delvis Claudio had a dinger in the third inning. Bach went for the long ball in the third and sixth innings. Torresan went deep in the sixth inning.

The Lakers saw the ball well today, racking up 13 hits in the game. Bach and Claudio each managed multiple hits for Iowa Lakes. Bach led the Lakers with four hits in four at bats. Kirkwood totaled 12 hits.

 

Lakers finish their weekend series against the Eagles tomorrow, Sunday April 23rd.
