Lakers cannot catch up to Eagles

GAME ONE: (Eagles 19, Lakers 5)

Iowa Lakes fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 19-5 loss to Kirkwood on Sunday. The Eagles scored on a home run by Chase Moseley in the first inning, a home run by Burkhalter in the first inning, a home run by Alex Pendergast in the first inning, a home run by Noah Furcht in the second inning, a home run by Cael Frost in the second inning, and a home run by Parker Shupe in the second inning.

The Lakers struggled to contain the high-powered offense of the Eagles, giving up 19 runs.

Kirkwood got things moving in the first inning. Moseley drove in three when Moseley homered.

Iowa Lakes tallied four runs in the fourth inning. The Lakers big bats in the inning were led by singles by Sean Gamble and Isaac Rogne and a groundout by Michael Rivera.

Blaine Harpenau got the start for the Eagles. The fireballer surrendered five runs on six hits over four innings, striking out nine.

Christian Gonzalez started the game for the Lakers. The righthander allowed four hits and eight runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out one. Arnoldo Saenz and Brandon Villabrille entered the game as relief, throwing three innings and two and a third innings respectively.

The Eagles hit eight home runs on the day. Ryan Nelson had a four bagger in the fourth inning. Kyle Hayes put one out in the fifth inning. Frost went deep in the second inning. Moseley had a homer in the first inning. Pendergast went for the long ball in the first inning. Shupe had a dinger in the second inning. Furcht had a long ball in the second inning. Burkhalter went yard in the first inning.

Korey Johnson went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Iowa Lakes in hits. Kirkwood racked up 13 hits.

 

Iowa Lakes are home to take on Minnesota West on Monday, April 25th. Game times are at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM CST.
