Reivers take two from Lakers

GAME ONE: (Reivers 11, Lakers 1)

Iowa Lakes watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in an 11-1 loss to Iowa Western. The Reivers scored on a triple by Harris, a single by Wood, and a passed ball during Robertson's at bat in the second inning.

The Lakers struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Iowa Western, giving up 11 runs.

Iowa Western opened up scoring in the second inning, when Harris tripled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run. The Reivers scored four runs in the fourth inning. Wright and Contreras all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Hunter Neeley took the loss for Iowa Lakes. The lefty lasted three and a third innings, allowing six hits and seven runs while striking out two.

Caden White, Peter Marquez, Joey Winters, Jose Colon, and Ben Bach each managed one hit to lead the Lakers.

Wood led the Reivers with three hits in three at bats.

GAME TWO: (Reivers 12, Lakers 3)

It was a tough day on Wednesday for Iowa Lakes, who lost 12-3 to Iowa Western.

Iowa Western took the lead for good with five runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Thompson singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, Rasmnussen doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run, and Schroeder doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

Manning took the win for Iowa Western. The hurler allowed four hits and three runs over one inning, striking out one and walking zero.

Jack Hested took the loss for the Lakers. The pitcher went five innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits, striking out four and walking one.

Day started the game for the Reivers. The bulldog surrendered zero runs on one hit over one inning, walking zero.

Iowa Lakes saw the ball well today, racking up nine hits in the game. Ben Bach, Luis Ramos, and Sean Gamble each managed multiple hits for the Lakers. Gamble, Ramos, and Bach all had two hits to lead Iowa Lakes. The Reivers collected 14 hits. 

 

Lakers face off against Marshalltown Community College for a home weekend series. Games are scheduled for Saturday April 30th and Sunday May 1st.
