Tigers take two from Lakers

GAME ONE: (Tigers 20, Lakers 4)

Iowa Lakes watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 20-4 loss to Marshalltown. The Tigers scored on a single by Durman in the first inning, a single by Moreno in the second inning, and a double by Durman in the second inning.

The Lakers struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing the Tigers, giving up 20 runs.

In the first inning, Marshalltown got their offense started when Durman singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Marshalltown scored eight runs in the ninth inning. Picketts, Followell, Slack, Pell, and Nowak powered the big inning with RBIs.

Hendricks got the win for the Tigers. The pitcher lasted seven innings, allowing seven hits and three runs while striking out seven.

Christian Gonzalez took the loss for Iowa Lakes. The pitcher lasted two innings, allowing six hits and nine runs while striking out one.

The Lakers scattered nine hits in the game. Matt Torresan, Peter Marquez, and Caden White each had multiple hits for Iowa Lakes. Torresan led Iowa Lakes with three hits in four at bats.

The Tigers saw the ball well today, racking up 16 hits in the game. Nowak, Slack, Durman, and Moreno all had multiple hits for Marshalltown. Nowak went 4-for-6 at the plate to lead the Tigers in hits.

GAME TWO: (Tigers 15, Lakers 4)

Nothing came easy for Iowa Lakes in game two, as they fell 15-4 to Marshalltown.

Marshalltown got things moving in the first inning, when Moreno tripled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

In the bottom of the first inning, Iowa Lakes tied things up at three. Isaac Rogne drove in one when Rogne singled.

The Tigers pulled away for good with ten runs in the third inning. In the third Durman singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run, Pell doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, Nowak singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run, Followell doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring three runs, Moreno singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs, and Pell doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

Johnson got the win for the Tigers. The bulldog went five innings, allowing four runs on eight hits, striking out two and walking one.

Dayton Robinson took the loss for Iowa Lakes. The pitcher lasted two and a third innings, allowing nine hits and 11 runs while striking out three.

The Lakers racked up eight hits on the day. Rafael Perez and Joey Winters, all managed multiple hits for Iowa Lakes. Winters and Perez all had two hits to lead the Lakers.

Marshalltown totaled 14 hits in the game. Nowak, Pell, Moreno, and Slack each managed multiple hits for the Tigers. Nowak led Marshalltown Community College with three hits in four at bats.
