Lakers drop two games to the Reivers

GAME ONE: (Reivers 10, Lakers 0)

The Lakers had trouble keeping up with the Reivers in a 10-0 loss.One bright spot for Iowa Lakes was a single by Ben Bach in the first inning.

Sean Gamble took the loss for the Lakers. Gamble lasted four innings, allowing nine hits and eight runs while striking out one and walking one.

Bach led Iowa Lakes Community College with one hit in two at bats.

The Reivers had 11 hits in the game. Bush, Contreras, and Patino all had multiple hits for Iowa Western.

GAME TWO: (Reivers 11, Lakers 1)

Iowa Lakes fell behind early and couldn't come back in an 11-1 loss to Iowa Western. Iowa Western scored on a single by Thompson and a stolen base in the second inning.

The Lakers struggled to contain the high-powered offense of the Reivers, giving up 11 runs. The Reivers got on the board in the second inning when Thompson singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

Iowa Western scored six runs in the seventh inning. The offensive firepower by Iowa Western was led by Rasmnussen, Cutter,  Schroeder, Thompson, and Huesohn, all driving in runs in the frame.

Christian Gonzalez was on the mound for Iowa Lakes. The righty surrendered two runs on two hits over one and one-third innings, striking out one and walking one. Jack Hested, Brandon Villabrille, and Hunter Neeley each contributed in relief for the Lakers.

Isaac Rogne, Delvis Claudio, Joan Benavidez, Joey Winters, and Ben Bach each collected one hit to lead Iowa Lakes. Tyler Hoffman had  five chances in the field, the most on the team.

The Reivers totaled 13 hits. Schroeder, Thompson, Rasmnussen, Cutter, and Huesohn all had multiple hits for Iowa Western. Schroeder went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Reivers in hits. Iowa Western tore up the base paths, as three players stole at least two bases. Phillips led the way with two.

 

The Lakers are home to take on the Warriors for their final weekend series. Game times are set for 1:00PM/3:30PM Saturday, May 7th and 12:00PM/2:30PM Sunday, May 8th.
