Lakers drop a pair of heartbreakers at Fort Scott

Iowa Lakes baseball team recently dropped 4 games while in Kansas this past weekend. Game 1 was all about pitching as Ty Thomson pitched 4 innings although he allowed 3 runs none of which were earned while striking out 3 on just 4 hits. Iowa Lakes offense was lead by Cesar Lam who went 3-4 on the game. Following game 1 the Lakers went on to drop a pair of close games, highlighted by a stellar performance on the mound by Soph. left handed pitcher Diego Gonzalez, Diego went 5 innings only allowing 3 hits and 1 walk on the day with the Lakers dropping game 4 in dramatic fashion. Other standouts from th weekend were Cesar Lam going 7-13 at the plate with a double and 3 RBIs, another noteable performance was Tyler Hoffman who went 3-11 at the plate but reached base safely 7 times while driving in 2 runs and scoring 2 himself.

"Were right where we need to be, playing close games, we are finding creative ways to score and generate offense against good competition and our pitching staff is giving us a chance on a daily basis." Said head coach Chris Witzke. "We have seen growth from series to series and if there's one thing this team has shown early in the season it's the ability to battle until the last out is recorded. I'm happy with where we are at and the quality of baseball we're playing with the entire season still right in front of us."

Look for the Lakers to battle back this upcoming weekend as they take on SWICC and Indian Hills in Centerville, IA in a double header non conference triangular.
