Lakers Bounce Back with a Win in Madison.

Lakers Bounce Back with a Win in Madison.

The Lakers traveled to Madison, South Dakota yesterday to play in a 9-inning contest against the Dakota State University JV team. The Lakers were red hot offensively and defensively having only 1 error and putting up 9 hits.  The Laker bats were led by Fernando Bones, who had 3 doubles and 5 RBIs for the Lakers. Beau Dalian contributed 2 RBIs, while Cesar Lam, Andres Aybar, Diego Morales, and Drake Van Meter all had 1 RBI.

The Laker defense was led by pitcher Ethan Paisley. Paisley had a great outing for the Lakers throwing 7 innings. In those 7 innings, he only allowed 1 hit and no earned runs. Topping off his solid outing with 8 strikeouts. Nick Rathman came in to seal the game and had a strikeout. Coach Witzke said " I can't say enough good things about Ethan Paisley's outing. Giving us 8 innings of 1 hit baseball was huge, especially with our pitching staff being stretched so thin with multiple high stakes conference games in a very short span".

Head Coach Chris Witzke had this to say, " It was nice to see our offense put it all together today. Anytime you can have multiple contributors along with clean defense in the field, you know you're going to have a good chance to win."

Lakers move to 6-28 overall and remain 1-13 in ICCAC play. The Lakers are back in action Saturday April 13, 2024, as they travel to Creston, Iowa to take on the Spartans from Southwestern Community College. The first pitch for the weekend series is slated for 1:00pm.
