Lakers Take One at Southwestern

The Lakers were on the road to finish off a marathon week in Creston, Iowa. The Lakers played 7 games in 5 days last week, and caped it off with a conference win.

In game 1 the Lakers had 17 hits and 12 runs in 7 innings of play. The Laker offense was led by JJ Schubert, who had 5 RBIs and a homerun, Beau Dalian added to the cause with 3 hits, 2 RBIs, and 2 doubles, and Diego Morales added 2 hits and 2 RBIs. On the defensive side, Mason Hicks went 4 innings for the Lakers, and had 3 strikeouts. The Lakers also threw in a 6-4-3 double play to add to the game 1 win.

In game 2 the Lakers added 7 more hits to the weekend total, as well as 4 more runs. The offense was led by Diego Morales, who had 2 hits, JJ Schubert had a double, and Tyler Hoffman added a homerun. Garrett Bergman started game 2 for the Lakers and went 3.2 innings and had 6 strikeouts. Coming in as relief was Emerson Fels, who threw 4.1 innings and had 4 strikeouts and allowed only 1 hit.

In game 3 the Lakers added 13 hits and 6 more runs to the weekend. The Laker offense was led by Fernando Bones, who had 3 hits, a triple and 2 RBIs, Cesar Lam had 2 hits, a homerun, and 4 RBIs, and Elkin Ortiz, August Goethals, and Christian Rivera all added a double. Diego Gonzalez started game 3 and threw 5 innings and had 4 strikeouts. The Lakers had a combined 37 hits and 22 runs. The Lakers are back in action Wednesday, April 17th at Marshalltown, first pitch is scheduled for 2:00pm.
