The Lakers traveled to Marshalltown to play 2 games yesterday. Game one the Lakers saw victory scoring 7 runs on 8 hits and kept a clean defensive sheet for 7 innings. Ty Thompson threw all 7 innings, giving up 6 hits and having 9 strikeouts. On the offensive side, the bats were led by Miguel Pena, who had 2 hits in game one. Cesar Lam added 3 RBIs and a double for the Lakers. Fernando Bones, Miguel Pena, Elkin Ortiz, and Keyber Delgado all had a hit and an RBI, and Beau Dalian, Tyler Hoffman and Andres Aybar added a hit apiece to the days total.

In game 2 the lakers fell two runs short of victory. They had 15 hits and 7 runs in the 9-inning bout. The offense was led by a host of Lakers. Fernando Bones, Elkin Ortiz, Tyler Hoffman, and Anthony Ferrer all had 3 hits in game 2. Anthony Ferrer led the RBI category with 3, and Cesar Lam added 2 of his own. Bones and Oritz both had 2 doubles. On the defensive side, leading the charge was pitcher Aiden Thompson, who threw 5 innings and had 5 strikeouts.

In total the Lakers had 23 hits and scored 14 runs on the day. Fernando Bones had 4 hits, 1 RBI, and 2 stolen bases, Cesar Lam had 3 hits, 5 RBIs, and 1 stolen base, Miguel Pena had 3 hits, Elkin Ortiz had 3 hits and 2 stolen bases, and Anthony Ferrer had 3 hits, 3 RBIs, and 1 stolen base on the day.

The Lakers are back in action Thursday April 18th against Iowa Central in Fort Dodge. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:00pm. The Lakers move to 8-31 overall, and 3-16 in ICCAC play.
