Lakers put Marshalltown to Bed in Overtime

On Wednesday, Iowa Lakes Men's Soccer faced off against Marshalltown at home, winning 3-2 in overtime. Lewis Nohar found Logan Roach once again off of a cross in the 15th minute to put the Lakers up 1-0. Shortly after, Aphelele Nzwanga slipped through a Pass to Henry Tolbert to set him up for a 1v1 finish against Marshalltown's goalkeeper, putting the Lakers up 2-0. Marshalltown fought back, getting a goal off of a set-piece to make it 2-1 going into halftime.

The Lakers struggled to find their rhythm in the second half, allowing Marshalltown to score again, making it 2-2 at the end of regulation. However, they responded in full force in the second half. When Sofian Maghouz went to challenge for the ball against Marshalltown's goalkeeper, Aphelele was there to put away the knock-down to give Iowa Laks the overtime win.

The Lakers now sit at an impressive overall record of 11-1 and 3-0 in conference play. Iowa Lakes next travels to Council Bluffs on Saturday, facing off against Iowa Western at 3pm.
