First Nationals Day

Your Lakers had their first day of competition in Fort Pierce, Florida agasint 13 other teams in the National Swimming and Diving Championships. This meet is broken up into one morning session and one afternoon session over the course of 4 days. Each of these four days, there are new events swum every day. March 6th being the kick off day for the championship, we started off with some sprinting and one long distance race!

Sophomore Caleb Rubitschung competed in the 50 Breast, while it did not go his way, he still finished the race and did an amazing job! In the 1000 Free, Freshman Pedro Brandao dropped 11.92 seconds and placed 11th overall! We had 3 swimmers in the men's 50 Freestyle, Luis Ramirez-Armas, Caleb Hodge and Joao Rodrigues. Ramirez-Armas maintained his time with a 26.08 placing 31st, Hodge dropping 0.56 seconds and finishing in 25th place with a time of 23.55 and Rodrigues finishing in 22nd and dropping 0.42 seconds. 

Sophomore Rylee Valentine coming in with a big day! She competed strongly in her 50 yard freestyle sprint that she qualified for B Finals! She qualified with a time of 28.48 and was seeded 14th for Finals. She finished out her day maintaining her time and placing! 

Great job today Lakers! Thursday's races consist of Men's and Women's 50 Back, 400 IM, 100 Fly and the 200 Free! Tune in to the NJCAA Network to watch your Lakers!
