Season Ending Smiles

Our NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championship meet has concluded! Laughs, smiles and tears were shared among teammates as your Lakers finished their last race.

Staring Saturday morning prelims, freshmen Joao Rodrigues and Luis Ramirez-Armas fought hard in the Men's 50 Fly. Ramirez-Armas finishing with a time of 29.17, he finished in 27th place overall, Rodrigues finished with a time of 25.94 placing 22nd overall.

Sophomore Brady Noel finishing his career as a Laker with the Mile long race, he qualified with a time of 20:46.16. He rocked this race by dropping a whopping 53.57 seconds to finish sub 20 with a time of 19:52.59. He placed 14th overall!

Joao Rodrigues, Caleb Hodge and Caleb Rubitschung all chased each other in the Men's 100 Free. Placing 18th, Joao Rodrigues with a time of 51.07. Placing 20th in his 100 Free, Caleb Hodge finished out his rookie year with a time of 52.89. Sophomore Caleb Rubitschung finalizing his career as a Laker with a time of 53.98.

Concluding Saturday, Sophomore Rylee Valentine wrapped up her swimming career in the 200 Backstroke, qualifying for finals with a time of 2:47.06 and completing finals with a time of 2:45.51. She placed 11th overall.

Freshman Pedro Brandao came into Nationals being seeded 8th in the Men's 200 Breast. He fought hard through prelims and finals, ended the season with a time of 2:09.27. He placed 8th overall and brought home a medal! 

With heavy hearts, we say goodbye and good luck to our sophomores; Brady Noel, Madison Otto, Caleb Rubitschung and Rylee Valentine. Each offering wisdom, leadership and support we will miss their smiles and laughs in the pool. They brought 110 percent every day to practice and we will miss them terribly. Caleb Rubitschung has committed to Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska to continue his swimming career and we will say Go Vikings and wish him the best!
