Athletes Recognized for Academics

Four Iowa Lakes Softball players were named to the NJCAA All-Academic Teams. To be awarded NJCAA All-Academic First Team, the student must have a 4.00 GPA. To be awarded NJCAA All-Academic Second Team, the student must have a 3.80-3.99 GPA. To be awarded NJCAA All-Academic 3rd Team, the student must have a 3.60-3.79 GPA.  

Sophomores Courtney Calkins and Deanna Gerrard were each named NJCAA All-Academic First Team, while sophomore Lauren Hein was awarded NJCAA All-Academic Second Team, and freshman Ashton Kazmierski was awarded NJCAA All-Academic Third Team. 

In addition, nine Iowa Lakes Softball players were named to the ICCAC Academic All-Region Teams. To be awarded first team, the student-athlete must have a 3.5-4.0 GPA. Second team recipients must have a GPA of 3.0-3.49. 

Sophomores Courtney Calkins, Deanna Gerrard, and Lauren Hein and freshmen Ashton Kazmierski and Kaitlin Walsh were awarded Academic All-Region First Team. Sophomores Blaney Markman, Julia Pfeiffer, and MaKarlie Smith and freshman Julia Sullwold were awarded Academic All-Region Second Team.  

"I am very proud of what these young ladies have accomplished. We talk a lot about how academics are just as important as athletics within our program and it is awesome to see that their hard work in the classroom has paid off." Commented Coach Larson
