Katelyn Nordmeyer to Play at Iowa Lakes

Iowa Lakes Community College Head Softball Coach, Katie Larson, announced the signing of Katelyn Nordmeyer to the 2020-2021 recruiting class. Katelyn is the daughter of Ben and Sheri Nordmeyer and attends New London-Spicer High School in New London, Minnesota.

"Katelyn is going to be a great addition to our very strong 2020-2021 recruiting class," commented Coach Larson. "She will be a good person to not only have on the softball team, but also on campus. She will be a tremendous leader for the entire Iowa Lakes community."

As an infielder for the Wildcats, Nordmeyer has left her mark on the program. In her first three seasons, she has compiled a .445 batting average with 64 runs batted in. She has 88 hits in her career, including 27 doubles, 4 triples, and 12 homeruns. Nordmeyer has lettered three seasons thus far for the Wildcats and received many awards. During the 2017 season, she was awarded All-Conference Honorable Mention, All-Section (3AA), and All-Area Honorable Mention. Nordmeyer was also selected for the All-Section Team after the 2018 season and was All-Section and All-Conference Honorable Mention in 2019. Additionally, Nordmeyer holds numerous records for the state of Minnesota, including; homeruns in consecutive at bats (2017 and 2019), number of homeruns in the section tournament, 5 (2017), and four doubles in one game (2017). Nordmeyer also has two career records at New London-Spicer and still has one season to go. These records include career doubles, 27, and career homeruns, 12.

Nordmeyer has also been an exceptional student, finding herself on the honor roll each semester.

When asked about why she chose Iowa Lakes, Nordmeyer said, "I chose Iowa Lakes because it was overall a great match for my career and athletic goals. I am excited to be able to play at the division II level, being a Laker, and playing for Coach Katie."

Coach Larson is looking for Nordmeyer to bring a lot to next year's team, "Katelyn has the ability to play any spot on the dirt and play them well. As you have all read, Katelyn also has an extremely hot bat. She is going to add some power and consistency to the middle of the lineup. It will be fun to watch Katelyn play in the blue and gold jersey next year!"
