Iowa Lakes Community College softball dropped their final game of the weekend against Iowa Central Community College. Although the Lakers put up five runs on 11 hits, they ultimately fell 13-5 in six innings. 

Iowa Central jumped out to the early lead in the bottom of the first, hitting two solo homeruns. 

The Lakers got one run back in the top of the second to make it a 2-1 ballgame. Tianna stepped up with two outs and drove a ball to the right field fence to put herself in scoring position. Paige Springer then followed with a shot to left center to score Soto. Iowa Central answered in their half of the inning, hitting another solo homerun. 

Lexus Gorospe led off the top of the third with a leadoff single. She advanced to second on a single from Kailey Maksim, eventually scoring on a Taylor Beane double. Kamryn Buntrock stepped up with one out and hit a hard ground ball up the middle, scoring Maksim to tie the game up at 3-3. Soto then grounded out to short to score Baene and give the Lakers the lead. Springer again drove a ball to center to drive in her second run of the game and extend the lead to 5-3. 

The Tritons quickly took the lead back in their half of the inning, scoring four runs on two outs. With two leadoff walks, Gorospe got the next batters to strikeout and ground into a fielder's choice to Beane at third. With two outs, Iowa Central then rallied with a single, hit by pitch, and double to put themselves up 7-5. 

Iowa Central put up one more run in the bottom of the fourth on back to back hits. They scored their final runs of the game in the bottom of the sixth on three walks and two homeruns.  

Lexus Gorospe took the loss for the Lakers. She pitched 2.2 innings, allowing seven earned runs on seven hits. Gorospe walked two and struck out four. Isabelle Karr pitched the final three innings. She allowed six earned runs on fours hits. Karr walked five batters. Paige Springer led the Lakers, going 2-3 with two runs batted in. Kailey Maksim and Kamryn Buntrock were each 2-3 in the game as well. 

The Lakers will return to play on Sunday, March 15th, when they take on Central Community College. Game times are 2:00 and 4:00 PM.
