Lakers Finish Third at BVU Invite

The Iowa Lakes women's golf team continued their steady play with another top three finish at the Buena Vista University Fall Invite in Storm Lake over the weekend. The Lakers posted a team score of 348, led by Gretchen Hofstad's fifth place finish with an 82 and Kelly Winter's eighth place finish with an 84. 

"Gretchen and Kelly played very well today with the windy conditions that picked up on our back nine. They kept to what they do best and led the team to a top three finish with a strong field" said Iowa Lakes Community College golf coach Jarvis Weber. "Everybody on this team has a ton of potential still waiting to come to the forefront, and we will keep working to get to there."

Other scores for the Lakers was freshman Somer Hudson with an 89 and a top twenty finish. "Somer has continued to impress this fall and is becoming a very important piece to this team for us to achieve our team success. I am very excited to watch her continue to grow and reach her potential." added Coach Weber.

Isabella Santistevan and Abby Gaudian both carded a 93 to round out the team scores. Savannah Wolff posted a 96, Madilyn Shandorf a 98, and Heidi Malm a 108.

"We will get back to work and strive to get into the winner's circle this fall. We have a very talented group that wants to get better every day, so it is only a matter of time until that happens."

The Lakers will get a few days rest and then look towards Indianola Country Club and the Simpson Fall Invite on September 30th to get their first team win of 2020.
