Lakers Compete in Redtail Shootout

Karli Fife traveled with the men to Dike, Iowa, where Hawkeye Community College hosted an 18-hole men's and women's tournament. The field featured a mix of D3 and JUCO schools with solid competition—the windy conditions made for a tough day of golf. Karli Fife made the turn with a 47 and finished the day with a 53 on the back 9. She carded a score of 100 for the day.

"The windy conditions can wear on players if they struggle with ball striking. Karli was playing solid on her front 9 and had a couple of mishits on the back 9 that led to some big numbers. Although the final score wasn't something she was pleased with, I continue to see a lot of growth in her game and think she has a lot to build off of in preparation for the National Qualifier next week," said Coach Myers.  "Karli has a lot of raw talent. We will sharpen up the short game this next week, regain confidence off the tee, and dial in distances with irons. Plains Districts Tournament has a lot of talented ladies and Karli will need to play well in order to make it to nationals. We're going to come in firing and see what happens!"
