The Iowa Lakes women's golf team got back into action Monday with round one of two at the Bulldog Spring Invite at Highlands Golf Course in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Lakers would post a team score of 342 in blustery conditions, good enough for a tie for fifth place with Dakota Wesleyan University and Briar Cliff University out of fifteen teams and are eight shots back of third place Bellevue University.

Leading the way for the Lakers were two former ICCAC Players of the Week Kelly Winter and Gretchen Hofstad with rounds of 82.

"We came out today and showed some more progress this season" said Iowa Lakes golf coach Jarvis Weber. "We are getting better and better every day so we are having to adjust our mentality and play with higher expectations, which is a good thing. We are putting ourselves in new positions of success and learning how to react to those situations."

Other individual scores for Iowa Lakes was Isabella Santistevan with an 86, Somer Hudson with a 92, and Abby Gaudian with a 93.

"Everybody showed something new today, which is exactly what we need to be doing. It may not feel like it during the round, but we are all getting better and progressing towards the regional tournament, which is where it all matters." added Coach Weber.

The Lakers will look to improve on their steady round one scores with a 10:00AM shotgun start tomorrow and Highland Golf Course.
